| AN OPEN LETTER TO ANDREW BREWERTON - Sam Richards |
|
Dear Mr. Brewerton
John Bull apparently informed all members of staff that today (Thursday
20th) is to be your last day at Dartington College. I wish I could mark
your departure with the wishes of goodwill I have generally offered to
Dartington's previous departing principals (which in your case surely
has a double meaning). However, due to your insenstive management of the
closure of the college, your part in the obfuscation of the issues
involved, the arrant nonsense about the so-called "merger", your utterly
vindictive treatment of me, and your inability to summon up a sense of
humour when criticised, I can do no such thing.
I can assure you that the Save Dartington College Campaign is far from
dead. The legal bullying that deterred us last week did not obliterate
the case we have. It merely showed how bereft of ethics the quangos,
committees and other bullies of this whole sorry affair really are. We
shall continue campaigning, and we shall continue to point out that the
Dartington affair represents a depressing failure of democracy.
Furthermore, if and when appropriate I shall continue to tell the story
of your small minded treatment of me, not least of which being the
untruths you spread by implication when the case was far from finished,
as well as your refusal to accept the apologies I offered which
fulfilled the conditions laid down by the Appeal Hearing.
I do not wish you well. In fact my only feelings on your departure are
those of fear for any institutions you may be employed by in the future.
Sam Richards
